N.J. Republicans continued registration surge in March, added another 5.2k voters

New Jersey Republicans continued to chip away at the Democrats’ mighty statewide registration advantage in March 2025, reducing the majority party’s edge by a net of 4,495 voters according to new data from the Division of Elections:

GOP: +5,212
Democrats: +717

There are now 2,449,041 registered Democrats and 1,619,352 registered Republicans in New Jersey. While the raw difference (829,689) is still formidable, Democrats enjoyed an over one million registered voter edge four years ago and Phil Murphy only held onto the governorship by approximately 80,000 votes.

New Jersey Republicans have steadily added to their numbers relative to Democrats since Joe Biden became president, and the trend obviously hasn’t ended with Biden’s departure from the White House.

Meanwhile, Governor Murphy is term limited here in the Garden State (mercifully), and both parties are presently engaged in hotly-contested primaries to pick nominees to succeed him come January 2026. Primary Day in New Jersey is June 10, 2025.

Save Jersey is co-hosting the final GOP debate on May 20th in Newark.
