Newark’s mayor thwarted from entering facility holding illegal aliens

The performative Democrats are working overtime in the final days of Primary 2025, Save Jerseyans.

On Wednesday, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka put on a bizarre show outside of the Delaney Hall Facility in Newark, New Jersey, reportedly attempting to force his way inside before being turned back.

In February 2025, ICE and the 1,000-bedroom facility reached a formal agreement permitting federal immigration authorities’ processing and detention.

“This detention center is the first to open under the new administration,” explainedacting ICE Director Caleb Vitello. “The location near an international airport streamlines logistics, and helps facilitate the timely processing of individuals in our custody as we pursue President Trump’s mandate to arrest, detain and remove illegal aliens from our communities.”

“The planned opening of Delaney Hall as a private immigration detention facility presents a serious threat to New Jersey’s immigrant communities and is one of the largest immigration detention contracts our state has ever seen. This massive increase in detention capacity places the public in further danger of the Trump administration’s unconstitutional, racist, and xenophobic mass detention and deportation agenda. With rapidly increasing federal immigration enforcement in New Jersey, this announcement is a further attack on our state and only adds to the rising fear felt by people who call our state home. This is a critical moment that demands action from state and local leaders,” complained ACLU-NJ Executive Director Amol Sinha at the time of the announcement.

Baraka – a “Sanctuary City” mayor who has failed to pop in the Democrat gubernatorial primary polling – is hoping to tap into support from the state’s far-Left base:
