“The Resistance” is flagging in New Jersey, Save Jerseyans!
A brand new poll from Emerson College should serve as a giant, red blinking warning sign for the Democrat Party heading into General Election 2025. Check this out:
Fifty-three percent of voters prefer the next Governor of New Jersey to work with the Trump administration, while 47% prefer the next Governor to stand up to the Trump administration.
“Democrats want the next Governor to stand up to Trump (76%), while Republicans want the next Governor to work with Trump (90%),” [Polling Executive Director Spencer] Kimball added. “Independents align more with Republicans in wanting the Governor to work with the president at 60%, compared to 40% who want the Governor to stand up to the president.”
On a related noted, President Trump’s job approval in New Jersey is EVEN, 47% to 47%, in a state where he just lost by the closest margin for a Republican since 1992 (5.9%).
Meanwhile, the outgoing incumbent Governor Phil Murphy is underwater with 40% approving of his job perfomance and 45% disapproving.
That’s all objectively disastrous news for Democrats for (I think?) obvious reasons. New Jerseyans appear primed for change, and with President Trump’s tariff strategy bearing fruit and the economy chugging along, Democrats may find themselves in jeopardy without an unpopular incumbent president to whom they can attempt to deflect blame for our state’s internal problems.
