Flynn helps Rutgers football players who couldn’t get REAL IDs thanks to Murphy’s botched rollout

The bad news? Your state government still sucks, but at least this story has a happy ending.

The worst REAL ID rollout in the country was naturally in New Jersey, and two months after the deadline, Save Jerseyans, things aren’t much better. For example, most MVC locations listed on the official agency website show NO available appointments for motorists in need and others only show appointments that are (very) far out in the future. The Rio Grande (Cape May County) branch currently lists no available appointments until October 2nd. That’s about three months in the future. There is an emergency option but the criteria is very narrow and the fee is pricey.

Among those impacted by the Murphy Administration’s failure? Members of the Rutgers University football team who obviously need REAL Id to fly to some away games including their upcoming October 10th contest against the Huskies in Washington State.

Assemblywoman Vicky Flynn (R-Monmouth) heard about their plight and brought a mobile MVC unit to the Rutgers campus.

“A local constituent who works for Rutgers let me know that Rutgers Football players were struggling to get Real IDs before the season,” said Flynn. “My office teamed up with @NJ_MVC to bring a mobile unit to campus. Now the team is travel ready and can focus on winning.”
