RNC sues N.J. Division of Elections over voter roll maintenance records

This is a potentially big development, Save Jerseyans.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) says it has filed a lawsuit after the state Division of Elections failed to produce requested voter roll maintenance records.

“The people of New Jersey deserve to have transparency and accountability in their elections,” said RNC Chairman Michael Whatley in a statement. “State officials are slow walking access to records about voting machines and voter roll maintenance. The RNC is taking legal action because the people of New Jersey have a right to know that their elections are being run fairly, securely, and in full compliance with the law.”

The RNC is alleging a violation of the Open Public Records Act (OPRA), New Jersey’s legal mechanism permitting the public to attain access to public records. The national GOP is seeking “seal log data” from New Jersey voting machines employed in the June primary as well as voter roll maintenance information. In addition to heading to court, the RNC is also asking the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate a potential violation of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

You have to wonder what the Murphy Administration may be hiding? Coincidentally, another watchdog group issued a voter roll analysis earlier this week alleging the existence of 32,000 suspicious New Jersey registrations including thousands of duplicates…
