The Trump Administration is reiterating its opposition to future offshore wind development, Save Jerseyans.
“Clean beautiful coal. We don’t want wind and solar,” the President told journalists during a televised cabinet meeting on Tuesday. “They are a blight on our country. Smart countries don’t use it… We’re not a smart country. We’re a brilliant country.”
President Trump’s position was echoed by EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin during a Sunday appearance on WABC.
“Without the government propping up wind, that it becomes even less feasible, it becomes even less economical,” explained Zeldin, a former congressman and candidate for New York governor. “If you’re not sure which way to go… you look at the map and you look at the economics, well, that should convince you against wind.”
After initially moving to pause the issuance of new offshore wind approvals, the Trump Administration recently curbed access to tax credits for offshore wind projects.
