Donald Trump lost Neptune Township by a 2-to-1 margin in 2024, Save Jerseyans, and believe it or not, that was the best performance of a GOP candidate in the 28,000-strong Monmouth County Democrat stronghold in 20 years.
Is a massive 25% property tax increase poised to make it more competitive than is ordinarily the case in 2025?
“The more we hear from residents about tax hikes/cost of living, the sense of frustration, sadness & anger…becomes more palpable. Especially so in Neptune Twp., where the school board is increasing taxes by 25% to offset the devastating school aid cuts made by @DonlonPeterpaul,” the ticket of Andrew Wardell and Jessica Ford opined via their X page.
The school district is raising property taxes by $17 million to compensate, in part, for consecutive years of school aid cuts which total $20 million going back to 2018.
Wardell and Ford are trying to unseat Democrat incumbents Margie Donlon of Ocean Township and Luanne Peterpaul of Long Branch in one of the state’s few remaining swing district which has changed hands on the Assembly more than once over the last several years.
Out and about in Neptune Twp this evening. Lots of complaints about the 25% property tax increases, thanks to our opponents gutting state aid to the Township’s school system.
Even the Democrat mayor has weighed in & pointed out how our State Assemblywomen sold us down the river! pic.twitter.com/42QZKgvmZP
