Ciattarelli scores endorsement from FOP, another union that didn’t back him in 2021

The New Jersey State Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Jack Ciattarelli for governor, further solidifying statewide law enforcement’s shift away from the Democrats’ ranks.

“In a number of ways, the job of law-enforcement has never been more difficult, which is why recruitment, retention and morale is down,” Ciattarelli opined in a statement. “We can change all that by restoring respect for authority, law and order and, most of all, the men and women in blue who are trained and dedicated professionals very much committed to serving and protecting.”

“Law-enforcement needs the support of our political leadership. As Governor, they will have it from me, the Attorney General, and my entire administration,” continued the Republican nominee.

The FOP endorsed Phil Murphy during his 2017 run for governor but declined to make an endorsement in 2021 when Ciattarelli came just three points short of dethroning the Democrat incumbent.

This is the second major New Jersey labor endorsement that Jack Ciattarelli nabbed this cycle but didn’t have back in 2021. In June, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 endorsed Ciattarelli after supporting Phil Murphy in both 2017 and 2021.
