Ciattarelli, Sherrill set to debate on September 21st

This one could be for all of the marbles, Save Jerseyans.

Republican Jack Ciattarelli and Democrat Mikie Sherrill are set to debate for the first time this Sunday, September 21st at 7:00 PM. The format: a 90-minute town hall debate held at the gymnasium of Rider University sponsored by The New Jersey Globe, Rider University, and On New Jersey. This is the first time that the New Jersey General Election gubernatorial candidates have met for a one-on-one debate, and only one other such encounter is scheduled (October 8th) since Sherrill has declined to participate in additional debates beyond the two required by ELEC’s matching funds program.

Yours truly will be there to report on the action, so check back here for live updates beginning around 6PM on the night of the big event.

If you’re planning to watch from home, you can visit any of the major socials (YouTube, X, or Facebook) as well as C-SPAN for the live stream.

Uncoincidentally, vote-by-mail ballots across the Garden State will begin arriving as early as this weekend, so Debate #1 coincides with the official start of “voting season” for Election 2025 in which the governor’s mansion, all 80 Assembly seats, and numerous county and local seats are on New Jerseyans’ ballots.
