Menendez’s wife gets 4.5 year prison sentence

Nadine Menendez is going to jail for awhile, but not nearly as long as her infamous hubby.

The wife of ex-Senator “Gold Bar” Bob Menendez received a 4.5 year prison sentence on Thursday following her conviction on corruption-related charges. Specifically, the prosecution accused her of being a “go-between” between her formerly powerful hubby and businessman who gave everything from cash to gold bars in exchange for favors.

“You were a central participant in a wide-ranging, extensive conspiracy involving the corruption of one of the highest-ranking United States senators, the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,” U.S. District Court Judge Sidney Stein told the defendant. “You set up meetings. You initiated actions. You involved others. You knew what you were doing throughout.”

Judge Stein previously sentenced Bob Menendez to an eleven year jail term back in June.

Nadine Menendez’s attorneys had asked for one year while the prosecution sought eight. Judge Stein ultimately split the baby.
