InsiderNJ’s Fred Snowflack’s story was titled “Colts Neck Participates in the Dissolving of the Department of Education.“
The equally biased New York Times‘s headline declared “Linda McMahon’s School Visit, Sponsored by Conservatives, Draws Protest.”
An NJ.com columnist complained about the threat poised by “whitewashed history.”
I was there, Save Jerseyans. In the front row. For the whole thing. I’m thinking I attended a different event than the one they’re describing?
There were maybe eight protesters outside? Despite NJ.com’s best efforts to suggest there was a simmering revolt brewing among angry parents? And throughout the delightful and upbeat Friday program Cedar Drive Middle School, the Secretary of Education (in her very brief remarks) never once mentioned the Department of Education let alone its ultimate fate to the crowd of mostly middle schoolers assembled in the gymnasium.
What we did hear:
– Secretary McMahon celebrated New Jersey’s central role in the Revolutionary War and how history education “rocks” (the theme of the 50-state tour coinciding with our nation’s 250th birthday).
– The school band expertly played a few patriotic tunes including the “National Anthem” and “America the Beautiful.”
– The excited students participated in two separate history trivia games led by the principal and vice principal. There wasn’t a single question about land acknowledgments, transgenderism, Donald Trump or Agenda 2025. Questions included “What’s the longest boardwalk in America” (Answer: Atlantic City’s) and who was the oldest signatory to the Declaration of Independence (Answer: Ben Franklin, whose son was also the Royal Governor of New Jersey prior to his arrest).
In short, there was nothing remotely controversial about any of it.
I won’t pretend to be shocked or surprised, Save Jerseyans, but it’s nevertheless a terrible shame that the Media needs to do what it always does: lie and misrepresent facts to advance their narrative.
Ironically, the Media and the handful of cat lady sign-toting Leftists protesting outside were the ONLY ones pushing a political agenda in Colts Neck on Friday. The same crowd that celebrates grown men dressed in sexually suggestive female garb in children’s libraries is somehow triggered by a member of the president’s Cabinet visiting schools to emphasize the importance of learning about George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
Thank you, Secretary McMahon, for caring more about New Jersey children than base partisanship and ideology. We can’t say the same of our own regional press corps.
