Spartacus is gearing up for another sequal, Save Jerseyans!
Our state’s attention-seeking senior U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is making the rounds and suggesting he’s game for another government shutdown. His beef? The Department of Homeland Security Budget because it includes the funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“I am not going to support a budget that gives more money to an agency right now that is out of control,” Booker told PIX11. “That’s not even a question for me. I will not be voting to support this budget until we start seeing some true accountability and high professional standards.”
Booker offered up similar remarks in a discussion with Katy Tur:
Asked if he’s willing to shut down the government over ICE funding, Senator Cory Booker replies: “We had the longest government shutdown, and Democrats could not hold together to sustain that kind of pressure.” pic.twitter.com/vjbfVZpVes

A likely 2028 presidential shadow candidate, Booker previously criticized his fellow Democrats for relenting and ending the record-long 2025 shutdown.
“We had the longest government shutdown in the world. Democrats could not hold together to sustain that kind of pressure,” Booker complained to Tur. “What I am saying right now is we the people, because the power of the people is greater than the people in the power, more people are going to have to put pressure on Republicans who are getting closer and closer to their reelections. Start putting pressure on them and saying, if you are not accountable to the people, we’ll get new people and replace you.”
ICE officers made over 4,500 detentions in New Jersey last year.
This week, the state legislature passed three bills designed to codify Sanctuary Statehood.
