Empowered by electoral rout, Lame Duck Trenton Dems go on epic spending spree

By Matt Rooney

The empire is striking back, Save Jerseyans, and it’s going to cost you.

Late Thursday night, Trenton Democrat legislative committees racked up $128 million in new spending while the Republican minority – set to shrink beginning later this month after November’s disastrous Sherrill landslide – could do little but voice their horror.

Remember: New Jersey already boads a $4 billion structural deficit. It was only six months ago that Democrats went on a $500 million spending binge before lying to voters about their feigned commitment to “fiscal responsibility” during the waning days of the 2025 Gubernatorial Election.

You can click here for the full list which wasn’t published until Friday morning… after the Senate committee vote. My favorite item might be $10 million gifted to unnamed New Jersey counties “to achieve efficiencies and future cost savings in the provision of services at the local level.”

The Assembly Appropriations Committee later rubber stamped the Senate spending and did plenty of damage of their own.

Below, you can watch our friend Assemblyman Jay Webber (R-26) take a hatchet to A6306, special legislation granting $300 Million in tax credits for Newark’s Prudential Center (and raised the cap for New Jersey’s failed tax credit programs, Aspire and Emerge):
