N.J. Assembly on track for record number of proposed new laws

By Matt Rooney

Trenton isn’t up to much good, Save Jerseyans, but they are up to a lot. An awful lot, truth be told.

Volume over quality!

I’m not exaggerating. As of this week, the New Jersey General Assembly has seen no less than 4,076 bills introduced. That objectively staggering total is NOT including resolutions. If you add resolutions to the Senate’s total? We’re currently an inch short of 8,000 (7,987) individual proposed laws year to date.

The Assembly typically comes in around 3,000 introduced pieces of legislation by mid year.

During the Christie years, the raw total was closer to 2,000 per year (4,000 for a two-year session).

Precious few of the pending proposals would make your lives more affordable if they made it to and across Governor Sherrill’s desk. Many would make your live a whole helluva lot more expensive and less free. I thought you should know!
