We now have some details for the much-anticipated Christie fundraiser designed to boost U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Bell, Save Jerseyans.
The event is scheduled for September 18th at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton; the host committee includes Asm. Michael Patrick Carroll (the campaign chairman), Christie friend and National GOP Committeeman Bill Palatucci, and former NJ GOP Chairman Asm. Jay Webber.
It’s an interesting list of headliners.
Carroll and Webber, ardent conservatives, are two of the most independent members of the Assembly who have history with Christie Inc. and often find themselves in the position of affable critics where the Governor’s policies are concerned. That doesn’t mean they’re hostiles. Michael Patrick Carroll, for his part, serves as the most outspoken skeptic sitting on the Bridgegate SCI.
This event isn’t “high dollar” as far as big-name political fundraisers go; tickets to the reception are only $100 for general admission and $1,000 for a private reception attended by the Governor.
Gov. Christie’s help will provide much-needed lifeblood for the challenger’s campaign. The race’s competitiveness over the summer took many observers by surprise but national groups – ranging from the NRSC to the Senate Conservative Fund – have shown no inclination to enter the fray.
