The Cleveland RNC is less than one week away, Save Jerseyans. The Donald is promising an unrivaled spectacle. Given the events of the last few weeks, all we’re daring to hope for is a safe and orderly (at least outside of the convention floor politicking!) affair.
But gossip over who’s speaking, protesting, attending or boycotting the Republican Party’s premiere quadrennial event is trumped — pardon the pun — by speculation over who will serve as the presumptive GOP nominee’s vice presidential running mate.
The latest?
An unidentified campaign source, reportedly close to Trump, told US News that Indiana Governor Mike Pence, former House speaker Newt Gingrich and retired lieutenant general (and Democrat) Michael Flynn are the finalists. That would mean discussion of New Jersey’s Chris Christie as little more than a courtesy vet are accurate. We’ll see.
Pence was thought to be the front runner as of Monday; he’s campaigning with Trump on Tuesday night.
Today: Fox News is allegedly suspending its exclusive contributor agreement with Speaker Gingrich….
"Fox News Channel has mutually agreed to suspend its contributor agreement" with Newt Gingrich "effective immediately." Story TK.

Why would Newt agree to a “mutual” suspension of his lucrative agreement with Fox were he not pretty sure that he’s about to get a significant new job? Yeah, maybe it’s a cabinet spot and he’ll want to campaign full time. Or maybe it’s a spot on the biggest stage in America?
TBD.
An announcement is expected from Trump before the end of this week.
We wouldn’t be surprised if Trump pushes the decision into next week to build suspense heading into his convention. He’s the consummate showman. Ratings are king!
