Phil Murphy’s Outrageous Campaign Spending: As Effective As Jeb Bush’s?

One of the most interesting story lines of New Jersey’s Election 2017 might ultimately prove to be how utterly ineffective (at least to date) the presumptive Democrat nominee’s campaign spending has been.

Don’t take my word for it. Look at the numbers, Save Jerseyans, revealed in the recent ELEC findings.

The GOP primary campaign of Jeb Bush (R-Florida) got pilloried in 2016 (and rightfully so) for his almost comically inefficient campaign spending; in New Hampshire alone, the Bush family scion spent $1,200 for each vote he garnered to Trump’s $40.

In 2017? Phil Murphy (D-Goldman Sachs) raised a king’s ransom of $19.2 million for the first quarter of the year and spent $18.4 million (96% of his haul). Almost all of it!

He’s on pace to spend approximately $50,000 per day on his campaign. On…

Imagine if this guy ever gets his hand on OUR money??? He isn’t even elected yet and he’s already spending like a career Trenton politician:

In any event, comparing his spending to the results of the latest Quinnipiac primary and hypothetical general match-up poll, Murphy has spent $700,000 per point in the Democrat primary (he’s in the lead at 26%; 52% of Democrats are still undecided despite Murphy’s record spending blitz).

The Republican primary campaign of Kim Guadagno, by comparison, has spent $700,000 total for the entire campaign.

Murphy is almost certain to win next month and he’s heavily favored to win in November.

Phil!

If he does? He’ll have bought Drumthwacket outright.

If he loses? The Murphy campaign will have succeeded only in making Jeb Bush’s failed effort look efficient by comparison.

Regardless of the ultimate outcome, we’re confirming in these numbers precisely how weak of a candidate Murphy actually is. In this anti-Trump climate? With his money? His cash should be going a lot further than it is. The problem, to a large degree (or so my secret Democrat friends point out) is that Murphy’s consultants’ spending has been slopping and minimally effective.

But maybe it also has something to do with the troubles associated with attempting to put pearls on a pig?  Without his millions, the radical, unlikable limousine liberal who makes Jon Corzine like hip would be up the Raritan River without a paddle. What remains to be seen is whether any of the Republican combatants are capable of exploiting the Goldman Sachs millionaire’s glass jaw.

Money, after all, is a lot but it ain’t anything. Ask Phil Murphy’s treasurer.
