President Donald Trump laid out a new road map for victory in Afghanistan on Monday night, Save Jerseyans, and Rep. Tom MacArthur (R, NJ-03) is feeling bullish.
“The President’s strategy for Afghanistan will protect our homeland, support our troops, and prevent terror groups from establishing safe havens in Afghanistan,” the two-term congressman said in a statement.”Most importantly, our military decisions will be determined by those on the ground, not bureaucrats in Washington D.C. I’m hopeful this framework—which is built on strong American leadership—will foster peace in this region and deter terrorism around the globe.”
MacArthur serves as a member of the House’s Armed Services Committee, sitting on both the Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces as well as the Subcommittee on Military Personnel for which he is the current Vice Chairman.
His sprawling 3rd Congressional District is home to the strategically vital Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
The Trump Administration’s new strategy may include the deployment of 4,000 new ground troops to the war-ravaged country where Americans are engaged in their longest-ever military conflict extending back to the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
