Chris Christie may not be the only prominent New Jersey Republican making his way towards the exit.
“Well placed sources have exclusively confirmed to Harry Hurley that United States Congressman Frank LoBiondo will not seek reelection following the completion of his record-setting 12th term in office as the representative from the 2nd Congressional District in New Jersey,” reported South Jersey radio host and long-time LoBiondo ally Harry Hurley on Tuesday.
Hurley says an announcement could come “as early as tomorrow.”
If true?
NJ-2 is R+1, meaning it will almost certainly become the Democrats’ top New Jersey House target for the 2018 Midterm cycle.
Leading “names” in contention (assuming they’re interested): Asm. Chris Brown (R-2) who’s expected to win a State Senate seat today, state Senator Jeff Van Drew (D-1) who should coast to reelection, and Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian, a gay Republican locked in a tight battle for reelection this Tuesday.
