Riv’s Hub in Toms River hosted several dozen supporters of Crispi for Congress on Wednesday night, Save Jerseyans, and candidate Mike Crispi’s strategist-in-chief Roger Stone was on hand to help whip up the crowd.
Stone and Crispi riffed on everything from Black Lives Matter and fentanyl to abortion and Ukrainian bio labs.
“That doesn’t make me pro-Putin. That doesn’t make me pro-Russia. It makes me against World War III,” Stone said to racous applause.
Incumbent Congressman Chris Smith (R, NJ-04) has the line in Ocean and Monmouth counties for his reelection bid. Long known for engaging international affairs issues, Smith has also staked out a strong pro-Ukrainian position.
Smith first joined Congress in 1981. Toms River was a part of the 3rd district until this cycle, pulling the populous suburb into the state’s reddest House district. Crispi has pledged to recruit a slate of off-the-line county office challengers in both Ocean and Monmouth ahead of the filing deadline.
