Schneiderman, the NJ-05 GOP primary wild card, launches first TV ad

Anything can happen in a low-turnout primary cycle, Save Jerseyans. Anything could include Cresskill businessman Fred Schneiderman who launched a television ad this week in the NJ-05 GOP primary.

“Joe Biden and the radical left are crippling America,” warns the 30-second spot’s narrator. “We need a common-sense conservative to turn things around. Meet Fred Schneiderman. A husband and father of two daughters, Fred spent 30 years as CEO of his own company. In Congress, Fred Schneiderman will fight unrestrained spending, tackle inflation and stand up for law enforcement.”

Schneiderman skipped the county convention phase of the process, but he’s collected a team of Republican consulting heavyweights including pollster and ex-Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway and Jamestown Associates, the media shop responsible for President Trump’s campaign ads. His campaign manager is Peter Finocchio, a Christie World veteran who has both New Jersey and Virginia campaign experience.

We don’t know how much money he’s raised, donated or loaned to his campaign; Q1 fundraising reports should begin dropping later this week.

The primary frontrunner is arguably U.S. Marine veteran Nick De Gregorio who has a decent chunk of change and the Bergen line (80%+ of the district’s registered primary electorate). There are three other candidates seeking the GOP nomination including 2020 nominee Frank Pallotta who has the backing of the Passaic and Sussex Republican organizations.
