Trump teases “major” news conference on Monday at Bedminster

There’s always a Jersey angle!

Facing criminal prosecutions across three U.S. states and the District of Columbia, former President Donald Trump promised Tuesday to make a “major” announcement next week at his Bedminster, New Jersey country club.

“A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey,” Trump shared via Truth Social earlier on Tuesday.

“Based on the results of this conclusive Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others,” Trump continued. “There will be a complete exoneration! They never went after those that Rigged the Election. They only went after those that fought to find the RIGGERS!”

There’s no indictation at this point what the evidence might be.

The news conference route itself is likely born of political calculation (duh) but also representat a piece of the larger Trump courtroom strategy.

Trump’s legal team will attack the new 41-count Georgia indictment, in part, as a gross violation of the former president’s First Amendment rights (the indictment itself makes a big deal of Trump’s tweets in the aftermath of Election Day 2020 and in the run-up to January 6th). Towards that end, the most famous defendant in federal court history is now faced with the choice of presenting evidence of fraud and/or arguing that “fake news” is protected free speech in most contexts.

He wasn’t the only one charged with week. No less than 18 alleged co-conspirators also charged in Fulton County, Georgia include Rudy Giuliani, former Trump attorney Sidney Powell, and ex-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
