N.J. Senator: Judith Persichilli should be the next to testify before Congress

One prominent New Jersey legislator thinks the “woman who needs no introduction” should be introduced to a congressional subpoena.

Citing news that ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will appear for a “transcribed interview” for the U.S. House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, Senator Joe Pennacchio (R-26) is renewing his calls for accountability for the Murphy Administration.

“In 2020 and 2021, it was obvious that New Jersey’s COVID policies were shadowing New York’s. There were even multiple memos and directives that were virtually copied and pasted. Since that time, New York has had at least some sort of investigation into these harmful policies, while New Jersey has lagged behind with its bloated and overpriced McCracken Report,” said Pennacchio. “Now, even former Governor Andrew Cuomo is going to testify before Congress. When will those in the Murphy administration be held accountable for their copycat policies in which over 16,000 patients died in nursing and veterans’ homes? When will New Jersey’s former Health Commissioner testify before Congress?”

The former Health Commissioner to which he’s referring is Judith Persichilli, the face of the Murphy Administration’s widely-panned Covid-19 response who recently retired but ended up with the Department of Health building renamed in her honor.

Pennacchio, for his part, has been banging the accountability drum since the early days of the pandemic. He recently prepared a comprehensive analysis of the Murphy Administration’s Montgomery McCracken Covid Report, a $9 million whitewash designed to absolve Murphy and his underlings of wrongdoing for decisions that led to the deaths of thousands of nursing home residents.

“New Jerseyans deserve to hear testimony from officials in the Murphy Administration,” Pennacchio continued. “Thousands of citizens, including the 16,000 who died in nursing homes, deserve that consideration.”

Cuomo’s current date to appear on Capitol Hill is June 11th.
