Before an assassin’s bullet grazed former President Donald J. Trump’s right ear, the Democrats’ relentless mantra was that he posed an “existential threat to our democracy.” Repeated ad nauseum.
Just two weeks ago, President Joe Biden said, “The fact is that Donald Trump is a genuine threat to the nation. And that’s not hyperbole. He’s a genuine threat. He’s a threat to our freedom. He’s a threat to our democracy. And he’s literally a threat to America and what we stand for.”
These sorts of statements were repeated endlessly in hopes of swaying public opinion. It wasn’t working according to recent polls. It was nothing more than hype that probably contributed to the horrible event this past weekend in Pennsylvania. Now, the predictable calls condemning “political violence” are nothing more than white noise. They need to own up to their influence on it!
Fortunately, we can fix all this.
The enduring strength of America hinges not on its leaders but on the collective resolve of its people to defend and uphold it. Our Constitution begins with “We the people, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility.” It is our responsibility to ignore the inflammatory white noise that led to the attempt at President Trump’s life and to change the dialogue.
Politicians and the media need to ask: “What do most Americans want?” I believe it’s simply to carry on, to not be bothered by politically charged B.S.
It’s that straightforward. People seek stability, fairness, and the chance to prosper without perpetual political turmoil. It’s what’s happening in each of our everyday life that actually matters.
Firefighter Corey Comperatore, who died protecting his family Saturday, won’t realize this. What an enormously unfair tragedy! But we owe it to him to make a real change. Our prayers are with his family and with David Dutch and James Copenhaver, who were critically wounded.
The Left’s obsession with portraying Trump as a singular threat to America and democracy deflects attention from real issues people care about and obstructs effective governance of what genuinely benefits people’s lives.
It’s time to demand action instead of vitriol from our leaders and work together to uphold the values that define American greatness. Let’s concentrate on what truly matters and build a future that honors the ideals enshrined in our Constitution.
