Rutgers University Assistant Professor Tracy Budd spoke for plenty of sick-in-the-head Leftists in the aftermath of the July attempt on President Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania.
”Let’s hope today’s events inspire others,” Budd wrote on Facebook, adding “[t]hey shot his wig. Sad,” in a separate post.
Insane and disturbing? Oh yeah!
But it’s Rutgers, and embracing crazy (so long as its far-Left crazy) is on brand. The university reportedly put the professor under review but, according to a new report from NJ.com, Rutgers will remarkably permit her to return to a classroom this fall when classes resume despite making violence-promoting comments on social media.
“More outrageous behavior from Rutgers,” state Senator Declan O’Scanlon reacted on X. “This isn’t about free speech. Calling someone your enemy…might be a poor choice of phrase. Calling for someone to be shot and inciting others to shoot presidential candidates (or anyone) is totally over the line. This professor should be fired.”
It won’t happen. You’re more likely to lose your job at Rutgers for “misgendering” someone than threatening or celebrating violence against a Republican.
No one ever loses their job at Rutgers for being insane or dangerous (or both), and this is hardly the university’s only recent experience with giving crazy a platform. Not by a mile. For example, back in May, the NY Post reported on a professor who was a vocal Pro-Hamas social media activist. In 2020, another professor drew criticism for not only her radical views but for declaring “f–k Trump supporters” and arguing that white people wanted to end the COVID-19 shutdown only because the coronavirus disproportionately killed black people.
The only real question is why New Jersey taxpayers are fine with containing to subsidize the insanity with their tax dollars.
