New Jersey is no longer requiring its teachers to pass a basic skills test as of January 1st, Save Jerseyans.
The head-scratching development caught the attention of none other than Elon Musk who didn’t hold back in a Sunday X post, mockingly joking “[s]o teachers don’t need to know how to read in New Jersey? Seems like that would make it challenging to teach kids how to read.”

Other conservative media also weighed in including Charlie Kirk:
Imagine being illiterate and thinking to yourself, “You know what, I think I’ll go into teaching.”
The state’s role when it comes to deranged people like this is to protect children from them, not enable their idiocy by helping spread it to the next generation. https://t.co/1LwmJmtOHS
