New Jersey Republicans continued their voter registration gains over the holiday season, cutting the Democrats’ statewide voter registration advantage by nearly 6,000 voters as Election 2025 gets fully underway. Continued progress is more reason for optimism with GOP candidates competing to succeed the term-limited Phil Murphy next January.
In December 2024, Republicans added 6,709 voters across all 21 counties, bringing their total from 1,634,872 to 1,641,581. Meanwhile, Democrats added only 738 registrants, increasing from 2,537,193 to 2,537,931. The net GOP gain worked out to 5,971; Democrats’ edge is now 896,350 after exceeding one million at the beginning of Joe Biden’s single term in the White House.
Put another way: from Janaury 2021 to January 2025, Democrats have gained a net of only NINE voters in New Jersey.
Republicans? They’re up 184,026 versus relative to four years ago.
It’s showing in the results. After losing the Garden State by 16-points in 2020, Donald Trump came within 5.9-points of winning New Jersey in 2024.
