The swamp feels threatened, Save Jerseyans, and is acting accordingly.
On Thursday, the State Senate and Assembly passed S3994/A5117 by decisive margins. The Democrat-sponsored legislation does a few things, but the truly wild change: increasing the number of ballot petition signatures required for the CURRENT primary cycle.
That’s right: with Election 2025 already underway and only a little over a month left to go before the petition filing deadline (it’s March 24, 2025 until 4:00 p.m), Trenton incumbents are creating a higher barrier for potential primary challengers who must now scramble to achieve the new required thresholds. For example, candidates for the General Assembly seats will now be required to collect 250 signatures by March 24th, a significant percentage increase from 100. Municipal candidates and school board candidates will also see the required number of signatures jump.
“I am DISGUSTED,” opined Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia (R) of Sussex County. “As expected, EVERY ‘YES’ vote to increase the number of signatures required to get on the NJ June Primary ballot was from a Democrat, with one Democrat Senator calling novice, aspiring candidates ‘clutter’ on the ballot.'”
Fantasia was referring to state Senator James Beach (D), an ancient machine cog from Camden County, a sponsor of the legislation who admitted that creating a higher barrier to entry was a motivating factor, something which corrupt organizations around the state are prioritizing now that the “county line” is giving way to block balloting.
“It’s important that we have serious candidates, and it’s important that we are not experiencing clutter on the ballots,” opined state Senator James Beach (D), an ancient machine cog from Camden County.
So yeah, yet another self-destructive episode of hypocrisy from the Party of Democracy!!!
Fantasia argued against the bill, which now heads to Phil Murphy’s desk, from the Assembly floor:
Truly amazing:
New Jersey Democrats are moving to change the number of signatures required for the 2025 primary election WHILE the primary signature-collection process is already underway…
