Donald Trump won Nellie Pou’s 9th Congressional District last November, Save Jerseyans, but you wouldn’t know it by how the freshman Democrat continues to vote.
She’s turning into a very reliable Democrat vote on Capitol Hill, including opposing the Laken Riley Act designed to protect Americans from dangerous criminal illegal aliens. Now she’s voted against the uncontroversial Officer Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act which passed the U.S. House overwhelmingly on Thursday, 264-155.
It’s not complicated: the legislation will create “new federal criminal offenses for operating a motor vehicle within 100 miles of the U.S. border while fleeing from a U.S. Border Patrol agent or a federal, state, or local law enforcement officer who is actively assisting or under the command of the U.S. Border Patrol.”
Apparently that’s objectionable to Pou?
“Nellie Pou has succumbed to the liberal brain rot that swept her party out of power. Bynum’s extremist vote siding with cartel terrorists over Border Patrol puts New Jersey in danger,” lamented NRCC Spokesperson Ben Petersen.
I’ll disagree with Ben in this regard: Pou’s brain was rotted when she was in the state legislature. Her condition is nothing new. Unfortunately, her horrible decision-making is now impacting our fellow citizens across all 50 states instead of just here at home in the Garden State.
Pou (D, NJ-09) was tapped by her party to succeed the late Bill Pascrell last year. She subsequently won her first full term by only 5-points over her GOP challenger (Billy Prempeh) who received nothing in the way of outside Republican support. Donald Trump carried the district – which includes formally deep blue territory like the City of Paterson – by a single point.
