Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (R, NJ-07) offered unrestrained praise for President Trump’s Tuesday night Joint Address to Congress, his first since commencing his second term.
“President Trump’s address tonight was a bold, optimistic vision for America’s future. In just six weeks, we are seeing historic success – our borders are finally secure, illegal crossings have plummeted, and law enforcement is empowered to keep our communities safe,” said Kean in a statement. “The economy is booming with over $1.7 trillion in new investments and a resurgence of American manufacturing. On the world stage, America is once again leading with strength – freeing hostages, eliminating terrorists, and pushing for peace. And here at home, President Trump is restoring common sense, protecting fairness in women’s sports, safeguarding children, and eliminating divisive DEI policies in government. His leadership is delivering real results, and we in the House will continue fighting to keep America strong.”
Trump spokle for a record two hours and won high marks from viewers; a CBS poll found better than 3 in 4 of those who watched the speech also approving of it.
Kean’s central Jersey district is arguably the last true “swing district” in the state ahead of 2026, though freshman Democrat Nellie Pou’s NJ-09 was narrowly carried by President Trump last November and could be an emerging battleground depending, of course, on the national environment and candidate recruitment.
