New Jerseyans looking for Real IDs on Tuesday night found “0 appointments available” on the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) website, Save Jerseyans, worse than an inconvenience for air travelers who urgently need to land one ahead of a May 7th deadline.
“Starting May 7, you will need a Real ID to travel by air or to visit federal buildings in the United States,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem explained on Friday in a video shared via X. “These IDs keep our country safe because they help prevent fraud and they enhance security.”
Meanwhile, there were 118,899 available appointments for the Knowledge Test (to obtain a permit) and 519,104 appointments for road tests to obtain a Class D driver’s license.
The significance? Illegal aliens have been eligible for driver’s licenses since January 2021 pursuant to legislation signed by Governor Phil Murphy. The cumulative result is an absurd situation in which it will be easier for an illegal alien to drive on the Garden State’s roads than for a legal New Jersey resident to fly out of Newark Liberty International Airport beginning in just three weeks from today.
Under Governor Murphy, Trenton is spending approximately $7.3 billion annually to support 894,000 non-citizens who are illegally present in New Jersey. That’s roughly 1 in every 10 dollars accounted for in the Murphy Administration’s proposed $58.1 billion budget.
