What’s the SCOTUS majority’s excuse?
The United States Supreme Court issued an early morning Holy Saturday order, Save Jerseyans, estopping federal officials from deporting a group of Venezuelans in Texas whom the Trump Administration asserts are dangerous gang members.
It wasn’t a decision on the merits, but rather a deportation “pause” for the illegal aliens currently detained in the federal Northern District of Texas.
“The government is directed not to remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States until further order of this court,” the justices’ order explained.
The Order (click here) was granted with a 7-2 majority. Justices Alito and Thomas dissented.
