Jack Ciattarelli decided to highlight looming double-digit electric bill hikes in his latest primary campaign ad.
“Trenton’s latest dumb idea, equity pricing? So now your monthly electric bills are based on how much money you make, not on how much electricity you use,” Ciattarelli laments in the TV spot. “Who does that?”
Ratepayers are anticipating 17% and 20% per month electric bill increases beginning on June 1st, the exact hike depending upon from whom you get your electricity (JCP&L, PSEG or Atlantic City Electric). Ciattarelli is specifically referring to a Board of Public Utilities (BPU) project to link utility bills to a ratepayer’s income, a form of economic DEI “equity.”
The GOP frontrunner debated Democrat frontrunner Mikie Sherrill on surging energy costs last week on X.

CIATTARELLI: “Trenton’s latest dumb idea, equity pricing? So now your monthly electric bills are based on how much money you make, not on how much electricity you use. Who does that? When I’m governor, the days of Trenton Democrats raising taxes, wasting our money, and ruining our state are over. I’ll root out wasting corruption to cut spending. We’ll cap property taxes for families and freeze them for seniors. And I’ll end Murphy’s radical energy agenda that’s driving up our electric bills in New Jersey. It’s time to make our state affordable again. When I’m governor, we will.”
