New Jersey joined yet another lawsuit against the Trump Administration this week, Save Jerseyans, this time to rescue the rapidly-collapsing offshore wind industry.

The Leftist attorney generals not only argue that the Trump Administration overstepped its authority, acting “arbitrarily and capriciously,” but that the nationwide pause on new permits “harms the States’ efforts to secure reliable, diversified, and affordable sources of energy to meet the ever-increasing demand for electricity; their billions of dollars in investments in supply chains, workforce development, and wind-industry-related infrastructure, including transmission upgrades; and their statutory- and policy-based efforts to protect public health and welfare from harmful air pollutants like nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide, as well as greenhouse-gas emissions.”
Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R, NJ-02) blasted the Murphy Administration’s latest legal adventure funded by U.S. taxpayers.
“You cannot make this stuff up,” said Van Drew. “The Murphy administration already burned through billions of your tax dollars on offshore wind projects that never worked. They pushed it on us even when towns were saying no, fishermen were saying no, and the tourism industry was saying no. They looked the other way while whales washed up on our beaches. They ignored the Pentagon when it said it was a national security risk.”
The multi-state lawsuit to save Big Wind dropped less than one month before New Jersey electric bills are set to spike between 17% and 20% effective June 1st. Opponents of offshore wind development correctly point out that the Murphy era focus on unreliable “green” technologies has directly catalyzed higher energy costs.
“The NJ Ratepayer Advocate said it would raise utility bills. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) said the cons outweighed the pros,” added Van Drew. “They did not listen to anyone. And now, after all that, they want to throw even more taxpayer dollars at it in court. It truly is a slap in the face to every taxpayer and every family struggling to pay their energy bill.”
