SHOCK: N.J. State Police turned away dangerous illegal who tried to surrender

Sanctuary Statehood continues to fail the people of New Jersey.

The Department of Homeland Security is in the process of rounding up four illegal aliens who escaped from ICE’s Delaney Hall detention center on June 12th, the same place where Congresswoman LaMonica McIver allegedly assaulted a federal officer (and is currently under indictment as a result).

Here’s the part that should REALLY piss you off, Save Jerseyans, as relayed by DHS on June 16th but conveniently absent from most media reports:

“On June 13, 2025, Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada, a criminal illegal alien from Colombia whose criminal record includes arrests for burglary, theft, and conspiracy to commit burglary, attempted to turn himself in to local authorities at the New Jersey State Police Bridgeton Station. Due to their sanctuary policies, the State Police refused to take him into custody because they do not work with ICE. On June 15, Castaneda-Lozada surrendered himself to Agents from FBI and ICE in Milleville, NJ.”

That’s right:

A dangerous fugitive remained at large because of Phil Murphy’s Sanctuary Statehood insanity which not only discourages but penalizes state and local law enforcement for cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

Back in April, we discovered an NJSP memo warning troopers to not only refuse to work with ICE but to take the further step of ignoring warrants.

“DHS has captured two of the detainees who escaped the privately held Delaney Hall Detention Facility. On June 13, Joel Enrique Sandoval-Lopez was apprehended. During his arrest, he kicked and threatened to kill law enforcement officers. Disturbingly, Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada tried to turn himself into local authorities and was turned away because of the state’s sanctuary policies that prohibit law enforcement from working with ICE. Thankfully, this criminal alien has now been arrested and is no longer a threat to Americans,” a Senior DHS Official is quoted as saying in the DHS release. “We encourage the public to call 911 or the ICE Tip Line: 866-DHS-2-ICE if they have information that may lead to locating the two criminal illegal aliens who remain at large. DHS and FBI are offering a $10,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of these public safety threats.”

A third escapee was apprehended on June 17th per the FBI.

Andres Felipe Pineda Mogollon of Colombia, who overstayed his visa and is accused of larceny and burglary, remains at large.
