Outgoing Democrat Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari is now a Republican.
“After decades of service, I’ve come to understand that leadership isn’t about party lines, it’s about standing up for what’s right, even if it’s not popular,” the five-term Hudson official told the Hudson County View on Tuesday.

Hudson is deep blue but President Trump did improve his margin there in 2024. Schillari lost a Democrat primary race for a historic sixth term earlier this year.
