In reversal, N.J. Dems added more new voters than Republicans in November ’25

A blip? Or a new trend?

In November 2025, the month of an unexpected statewide GOP wipeout, New Jersey Democrats netted 2,492 new voters statewide while Republicans registered 1,402 new GOPer’s. Unaffiliated voters, meawhile, added 5,837 to their ranks.

Republicans have gradually chipped away at the Democrats’ statewide voting advantage since Joe Biden began his single term in office back in January 2021, but the GOP doesn’t have much to show for having closed the statewide registration gap by approximately 250,000 voters. Democrats still held a 854,554 statewide registration edge as of December 1st on the heels of Mikie Sherrill’s nearly 15-point landslide win over Jack Ciattarelli in last month’s gubernatorial contest.

What remains to be seen is whether Republicans revert to gaining steam, however modestly, over the holiday season or whether Democrats have officially regained sustained momentum heading into the Midterms.
