So far, Sherrill Administration shares Murphy Admin’s obsessive focus on national issues

Say what you want about Jack Ciattarelli, Save Jerseyans, but the man made it pretty clear that his only ambition in life (other than serving as New Jersey governor for 4-8 years) was to retire to the Jersey Shore.

In the early going? There’s no indication that the Sherrill Administration will be any less obsessed with national affairs than her predecessor’s administration was, and of course those obsessions will come at the expense of tackling many of the Garden State’s most pressing economic and public safety challenges.

“I am deeply disturbed by yesterday’s horrific shooting in Minnesota,” Acting Attorney General Jennifer Davenport declared on X following the death of Minnesota’s Alex Pretti. “There must be an independent investigation free from federal interference. These actions don’t make anyone safer. They must end – and state and local law enforcement must be allowed to do their jobs.”

She was retweeting her boss’s own similar remarks:

Isn’t cooperating with other law enforcement agencies part of an LEO’s job?

What’s more, the Governor’s first big post-inaugural interview was on a national television program (MS NOW’s Morning Joe) and focused almost exclusively on ICE and immigration enforcement.

Eight years of Gurbir Grewal and later Matt Platkin endlessly picking fights with the Trump Administration didn’t make New Jersey any more affordable. Why would another four years of the same distracted strategy be any different?

But you get what you pay for. Almost always.
