Governor Mikie Sherrill: this goes nowhere until your Party understands this ain’t open bar season.
Let’s review the “past decisions” tab. State dollars have been tossed at:
• Consultants who consult the consultants who consult.
• Recreation center pet projects — pickleball courts, Olympic-size pools, “sparkle effect” stadium lights.
• Legal services and public benefits for those here illegally
• Offshore wind disasters that sent utility bills through the roof with no backup plan.
• $300M funneled to corporations for politically- connected districts.
• Favored school districts hosting open bars, taking lavish trips to Honolulu, and spending $250k on balloon decorations (then demanding more state aid with a straight face).
• The Pompidou art museum
• Universal preschool expansion (while constitutionally-mandated K-12 students are still fighting for fair funding) Mind you, a school funding formula that punishes Highlands communities for protecting the state’s drinking water.
Stop blaming the Feds. One-time pandemic funds were ONE TIME.
And Washington isn’t in the business of funding NJ’s 34% ERROR RATE IN SNAP PAYMENTS.
The NJ taxpayer gets the shaft.
The NJ working class gets the shaft.
Every. Damn. Time.
