There’s still time for a monied candidate to get in.
But not that much time.
At least three combatants now seem likely to fight it out for a chance to take on U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-Hudson) next fall. The uber-conservative Mike Doherty will try to pull a ‘Schundler 2001’ and circumvent the (presumably) Christie-backed Joe Kyrillos on next spring’s county convention circuit. Even if Doherty succeeds, Anna Little could play spoiler for Doherty, ironically, by siphoning away Doherty’s Tea Party support in Kyrillos’s own Central Jersey backyard. Or will the tenacious Little recapture some of her seemingly depleted 2010 magic and surprise everyone?
