Geraldo for NJ Senate?

REPORT: Geraldo Rivera Considering Running For U.S. Senate from New Jersey

By Art Gallagher | MoreMonmouthMusings.com

Television personality Geraldo Rivera announced on his radio show this morning that he is considering seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2014, according to The Hill:

Geraldo

Geraldo in the 70s.

I mention this only briefly, fasten your seatbelt,” Rivera said on his radio show. “I mentioned this only briefly to my wife … but I am and I’ve been in touch with some people in the Republican Party in New Jersey. I am truly contemplating running for Senate against Frank Lautenberg or Cory Booker.”

“I’m not going to drill this out, because obviously I’ve got commitments to Fox and to here at the radio program and I’m really having a great time,” Rivera added. “But I figure at my age, if I’m going to do it I’ve got to do it. And there doesn’t seem to be any Republicans ready to work against or run against Corey Booker, the popular Newark mayor.”

Rivera is a former Monmouth County resident and the former owner of  The Two River Times. He currently lives in Edgewater, Bergen County.

@GeraldoRivera Only the worst idea I've heard in a long time! You're kidding, right?

  2. Peter Carroll via Fa says:

Can it get any worse for the NJ GOP??? When are the going to put an actual Republican who believes in what the word Republican means on the ballot for any State wide office???

  3. He has name recognition and the money… he may be a dark horse in any state race.

In 2003, while with the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army – the "Screaming Eagles" – Rivera almost got them all killed in Iraq.

Geraldo's photographer aimed the camera down at the sand, where Rivera drew a map of their location in Baghdad, and then proceeded to diagram the military plans of the division. Yep nobody would ever guess where you were on National TV.

In 2008 he said Obama was dead . . . what a putz.

  5. Liberal Idiot. Listen to his show, he claims to be independent but he's just another media cheer leader and apologist for the commiecrats.

  6. Sounds like shameless self promotion lol

Career tanking???…Run for office for free exposure and much needed attention. They should've shot him when he was inserted with our troops and laid out the attack plan for live TV coverage and exposed our troops to a counter attack.

I remember that, Joe Sinagra. I saw the segment the first time it aired and remember thinking, "What is he doing?!" His primary concern is his ratings/popularity.

While you're at it, why not see if Maury Povich is available?

This is why I love our Save Jersey readership… no one holds back!

  12. Absolutely he is just what the republican party needs. Would prefer Stosel though .

  13. I can not stand him, I'd vote for Booker over him in a second!

An excellent example of a Democrat. He had all of those mental patients released and moved on. Meantime these people are living on the street, eating from garbage cans and off their meds. Way to go Geraldo.
