Christie Nominates Haines to the Superior Court

This was a long time coming, but Governor Christie has announced his nomination of Senator Phil Haines (R-Mt. Holly) to the New Jersey Superior Court. You’ll remember that Haines had previously been nominated by Governor Corzine in 2009, but had turned down the job at the time, citing his dissatisfaction with the way that Corzine had used his power as a lame duck Governor to make political appointments just before the Christie Administration took control of Trenton.

This means that Sen. Haines 8th District Senate seat will now be up for grabs as an open seat in 2011, only adding to what is sure to be quite an interesting election cycle next year for the State House.
