Confirmed: Bryant Indicted Yet Again

Former Senator Wayne Bryant, famously corrupt politician and Ice-T look alike, has somehow managed to be indicted yet again while currently serving time for corruption charges. Save Jerseyan’s will remember that Bryant has already been serving a prison sentence on that conviction since July 2009, after he was found to be using his position of power on the budget committee to secure a more lucrative pension for himself.

The new indictment stems from Bryant’s work with an attorney named Eric Wisler of DeCotiis, Fitzpatrick & Cole. Allegedly (but lets be honest…) Wisler funneled almost $200,000 to Bryant in return for favorable votes on development projects in New Jersey, many within Bryant’s Camden centered district. Wisler represented the equity firm funding these projects. The pair went as far as to produce fake invoices for work never actually performed to cover their tracks, to no avail, of course.

Both men are being charged with twenty counts of honest services mail fraud and one count of bribery. If convicted, the criminals could serve up to 20 years in prison for each count of fraud and an additional 10 years for the bribery count. With this new development, coupled with Bryant’s current 4 year prison term, would ensure that Wayne Bryant will not see the light of day for a long, long time. New Jersey, and probably society as a whole, will only benefit from that fact. The only unfortunate part of this whole thing (besides all of the misused tax dollars that went through Bryant’s hands, of course) is that the taxpayers will still be on the hook to support Bryant in prison.

In closing, we at Save Jersey are particularly glad that Wayne Bryant was indicted and not Law & Order: SVU actor Ice-T. We did not want to post on this news until we could be completely sure.
