For those who continue to complain about Lt. Governor Guadagno’s absence she was down in Mexico with her father who is ill (with you know, Stage IV cancer). There was probably no schedule planning because of this personal emergency and heavy snowfall is not grounds for an immediate return for Governor Christie when Sweeney is more than capable of declaring and revoking a state of emergency.
And in today’s era of telephones and email if you think that Chris Christie is lounging down in Florida then you are intellectually dishonest and foolish. Snow is commonplace in New Jersey – the simple fact is municipalities are ill-equipped for anything other than bending to the will of public unions and corrupt political machines.
If municipalities were able to have reasonable budgets and cash flow then emergency services would be better equipped for snow emergencies. However, political grandstanding prevented reforms that in the future could help emergency services.
Additionally, what was Christie going to do in Trenton exactly? Shovel everyone out? This is just an attempt to get an easy hit on Christie who has been a visible opponent of the liberal media and Democratic policies. It says a LOT when Darrel West is the voice of reason.
Christie would be wise to pivot this “CRISIS” into an example of political pettiness and personal attacks by the media and Democrats.
So, its the union's fault that they were missing? Or other politicians? What a jerk.
