The Anti-Christie Media Needs to Do Some Helicopter Homework

Let’s get this out of the way: I don’t think Governor Christie should’ve used the helicopter to attend his son’s baseball game! Not because there’s anything inherently immoral or even wasteful about it. It’s pretty small potatoes in the scheme of things, Save Jerseyans. I’m against the chopper ride simply owing to the fact that the Governor and his people should’ve known that the media would seize on this incident and, without undertaking any due diligence, accuse him of hypocrisy.

If they had picked up the phone and done their homework, the media corps would’ve easily discovered that the value-added cost to New Jersey’s taxpayers was a big fat $0.

Via the WSJ Blog:

State Police said the governor’s trip took one hour, at an estimated cost of about $2,500. But State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes said Christie’s use of the helicopter carried “no additional cost to taxpayers or the State Police budget.”

“It is important to understand that State Police helicopters fly daily homeland security missions, and use flight time for training purposes, more so lately as we acclimate our pilots to the new aircraft,” Fuentes said in a statement released Wednesday. “These are flight hours that would be logged in any event.”

N.J. helicopter politics is nothing new. Whitman accused Florio of abusing the chopper privilege in 1993, and everyone (except the State House Dems and their willfully blind media buddies) criticized Jim McGreevey’s 14+ non-govermental chopper trips. The rumor persists that he had Dina Matos McGreevey rushed to Cape May on a state helicopter after breaking his leg during an extramarital beach walk. What a contrast to the young Christie’s wholesome little league game, huh?

But the Democrat/media establishment never lets facts get in the way of an opportunity to attack a Republican. That’s a shame given what we need to accomplish in this state to reverse our economic fortunes. Media members don’t have to like the Governor’s decision making on this one. They do, however, have an obligation to conduct the requisite research and provide a little context before spewing accusations.

  1. Hey…is that egg all over your face? Or is that just what comes out when you brown nose too close…

Your buddy just announced he'll reimburse the state for his little BBall Junket on the taxpayer dime. Glad to see you thought it was all ok though…true to form.

I wonder if he'll ever reimburse the state for that 100 yard ride in the limo to the other ball field…probably not…and really, he could have used the exercise.

  2. Hey folks, check it out, Rick is Ambrosia is proving once again he doesn't actually read the articles. If this was Playboy, that be ok.

  3. One typo doesn't equal lack of a GED or education. Constantly posting on a blog you don't agree with does however equal you being a total fag.

  4. Ooohh…very nice comment….especially when you post as anonymous. Very typical of a republican. How brave of you again. And, if you only see one typo in Irwin's comment, then maybe you need a remedial reading course yourself.

  5. Wow again the anonymous brave one strikes….first using a gay slur to try and make a point, and now referencing a sexual act with, obviously, another male. Seems you're obsessed with anything gay. Must be very conflicted.
