9/11 Memories: 10 Years Later

To be quite honest, I am in total disbelief that ten whole years have gone by since the 9/11 attacks. I was only fourteens years old when I watched the World Trade Center fall, but still I remember exactly where I was, what I was doing, and could describe in minute detail the moments after the news first broke. Even at such a young age I remember feeling the weight of the situation and knowing that our country was never going to be the same.

Ten years later, we all are looking back and thinking on that horrifying day. 2,976 lives were lost, but so many more could have gone had it not been for the brave men and women working as first responders that day, or the heroes on United Flight 93 that took their plane down in Pennsylvania, potentially saving thousands.

Ten years ago today, our country stood united. For a short time we put aside our differences, political and otherwise, and came together to support each other and press our wounded country forward. Today we can look to that feeling and remember that no matter how strong our differences, no matter how important the issue, that the terrorists did not attack Republicans or Democrats, they attacked Americans.

Head to the comments and take some time to recount your memories or September 11th. Politics can resume tomorrow.
