Big Changes Coming To Save Jersey, McGovern Steps Down

This has been a great year for Save Jersey. After taking a two week hiatus we launched Save Jersey 2.0 with a slew of problems and growing pains, but a year later I feel that I can say it was worth the work. In 2010 we continued to fight to win elections for conservative candidates in New Jersey, and in 2011 we pushed back against the liberal media and fought the status quo in our state. In short, we continued to “save Jersey.”

When I took my position here, my goal was merely to preserve the blog that Matt Rooney had left behind, I was doing a favor for a friend, but my goal quickly changed after the first few months. Matt did an incredible job running this website as a one-man show for two whole years. I simply did not have it in me to keep that up, so I had to reevaluate and press on. I had a lot on my plate at the time, but I was not going to let Matt and all of the Save Jerseyans around the state down.

I won’t brag about the things I am proud of doing at Save Jersey, because to be quite honest there is not much, but what I will harp on is the fact that in the last year this blog has grown tremendously, and that is owed to no single person, but to our team. Ed, Irwin, Matt, and our newest writers James and Ian have stepped up to the plate and delivered some of the best political content out there. In fact, the growth of the Save Jersey team is one of the main reasons that I think now is the perfect time for me to step down.

You see, I am not stepping down as Blogger-in-Chief because I no longer wish to write for Save Jersey. To the contrary, you readers are stuck with me for better or worse for some time to come. Instead I will now assume the title of Managing Editor, so that I can refocus my efforts to continue growing Save Jersey, both in the size of our team and our presence on the internet. I’ll still be writing almost every day, but I feel that more time and investment needs to be dedicated to our growth strategy. For the long term, it will be the best thing for Save Jersey and for the conservative movement in New Jersey as a whole.

You are going to notice big changes over the next few months. Some will be immediate, others will be more transitional.

  1. Starting tomorrow there will be a new Blogger-in-Chief. Do not worry, I would not leave Save Jersey in anything but the most capable hands. (preview below)
  2. Save Jersey 3.0 is going to launch. Thats right, the blog is getting a makeover. I have been working for the last two weeks on graphics and layout. I think Save Jerseyans will find that the new site will be more streamlined, less cluttered, and all around more pleasant to look at. This change is coming far sooner than later.
  3. Our social media strategy is going to be revamped and pushed harder than ever.
  4. Our team is going to continue to grow over time with more writers from every corner of New Jersey.
  5. Save Jersey is going to launch an innovative initiative to bring diversified conservative political commentary to Save Jerseyans everywhere on both the macro and micro level. This is still in the planning stages, but the the progress we are making has me incredibly optimistic and enthusiastic for the future.

Thanks to all the Save Jerseyan’s out there that make this site worth writing everyday. I had a great time in my stint as Blogger-in-Chief, would not trade the experience for anything, and am incredibly excited for what lies ahead. Check back tomorrow to meet our new captain, I have a feeling you will all be pleased. A bigger and better Save Jersey is coming, stay tuned.

  1. You just informed everybody you have a relationship with Jane Roh. Jane is an idiot and so are you for sharing that tweet. And just to further prove you are a complete moron when did Matt ever leave the blog?

  2. Big man calling Jane Roh an idiot while leaving a "ccdems.com" email address but no actual name. Just because she was instrumental in blowing the cover off of the voter fraud scandal you guys were running in NJ-3 last year is no excuse for name calling. Also, Matt hasn't written a post on this blog in over a year.

    Further, tweets are public anyway…
