“Please Keep Your Neighbors in Mind…”

bergen county mapAt this week’s Bergen County EMS graduation, Keynote Speaker Lt. Colonel Jerome Hatfield, Deputy Superintendent of Homeland Security for the New Jersey State Police, described recent events in threat-prone New Jersey.  He talked about Superstorm Sandy and how it was handled.  He described that when State and Federal assets became available after the storm, what they found here in Bergen was the well-organized, cooperative effort of county law enforcement with local agencies and the seamless integration of paid emergency services and volunteers, all working to keep our citizens safe and healthy.  He described Bergen County’s response as “exceptional.”

Today we find ourselves preparing for yet another extraordinary event and readying the exceptional response we’ve come to expect from Bergen County.

As you make preparations with your own family, please keep your neighbors in mind, especially those elderly or more vulnerable.
