Christie Approval at 68%

Majority of Overall Voters, Democrats Continue to Approve of Republican Governor’s Job Performance

Christie in ACThe latest Rutgers-Eagleton poll results are out, Save Jerseyans, showing Chris Christie with a 68% overall job approval rating with just under seven months to go until Election 2013.

His new rating represents a slight 5-points drop from the last poll attributable largely to weakening Democrat support (still remarkably above 50% but down 11-points), something that’s to be expected as the general election inches closer and Sandy gets more distant in the rearview mirror. Notably, 58% of New Jerseyans polled believe their state is headed in the right direction despite the fact that only 47% approve of the Governor’s jobs/economic record and only 37% approve of his handling of taxes.

Now you know why (if you didn’t already) why the NJGOP and its legislative affiliates are harping on the “Corzine Democrat” theme… most voters still believe there’s nowhere to go but “up” after the Corzine/McGreevey years.
