New Jersey Ranked 48th Most Free State in America

How sad is it when the only reason your state isn’t ranked the least free state in the Union is the legalization of civil unions?
This is the state that taxes and regulates virtually every aspect of your life (including, as of yesterday, your teen’s tanning habits). We live in the nation’s 2nd most taxed state according to the Tax Foundation. Now the Mercatus Center at George Mason University has ranked all 50 States utilizing “200 policies and across the personal, regulatory and fiscal dimensions.” And guess which state finished near the very bottom of the heap?
